League Competitions

HERTS COUNTY CLUB LEAGUE (MEN’S)

This is set up as individual leagues comprising approximately 6 teams, which are drawn together at the start of the season. The league winners and runners-up then progress to a knock-out competition to decide the overall winners.

Matches are played on two rinks on the same green. Each winning rink is awarded 2 League points, with a further 2 points being awarded to the winning team (i.e. 6 points are available in each match).

DISTRICT LEAGUE (MEN’S)

Matches are played over 18 ends on three rinks on specified dates with 20 League points being awarded to each winning rink and to the overall winners (i.e. 80 points per match).

DISTRICT TRIPLES LEAGUES (MEN’S AND LADIES’)

The Club enters teams in the separate Men’s and Ladies’ Triples Leagues. Each League is formed of two Sections comprising approximately 6 teams each, drawn at the start of the season. The section winners and runners-up progress to a knock-out competition to decide the overall winners.

Matches take place on successive Friday evenings in late July/August. In each, two triples play simultaneously over 15 ends at home and away, so neither has knowledge of the score in the other game. The winner – the team scoring most shots in total over the two rinks – is awarded two points in the League.
