Match Reports

In their final District league match of the season Townsend Bowls club welcomed League leaders, Welwyn Garden City. The result of the three rink encounter was very close, with one win, one loss and one draw for each team. Overall plaudits, and 50 points against their opponents 30, went, however, to Townsend on the basis of points scored, with a final result of 42 - 31. Top scorers were Matt Stuart-Reid, Ian Forster, Andy Scarborough and Peter Thomson with a 22-9 win.

 

Each season Townsend welcome one or more of the “select” teams from London Irish, Scots or Welsh to Waverley Road. These match ups are well known for their sociability as well as competitiveness, and this was no exception. Six triples were in competition and the end result was a draw, with three wins for each team. The visitors, however, took the overall decision with  a 103–99 short victory. Top rink for Townsend was Bernie Cawley,  John Oakey and Skip Bob Padget with a score of 19 to 11.
